Market Focus
In U.S., corporate earnings are still the focus of the investors this week. Results of Advanced Micro Devices, Google, IBM, Johnson & Johnson and DuPont will be released on Tuesday, United Technologies, Microsoft and 3M are due on Thursday and Procter & Gamble will be reported on Friday.
Negotiation of U.S. debt ceiling in Congress, of course, is still closely monitored by investors. Other important economic data will be released includes Markit Manufacturing PMI on Thursday and New Home Sales on Friday.
In Japan, BOJ will announce the latest interest rate decision on Tuesday. Investors are waiting for the BOJ monetary policy statement and press conference as Japan deputy economics minister said The BOJ and the government are finalizing a joint statement with 2 percent inflation target. Japan’s CPI will be released on Thursday and most of the economists are still expect to see a negative figure.
In China, HSBC Manufacturing PMI figure will be released on Thursday. Investors expect the figure will show manufacturing sector in China is expanding and give a new evidence of China’s “bottomed-out” to global investors.
