Global Equity Markets Review
For the week, the US Dow average rose 0.1% while the S&P 500 eased less than 0.1%, for its first weekly loss in over a month as investors focus on Earning.U.S. consumer confidence in the economy unexpectedly rose at the end of this month.
Japanese Consumer Prices rose more than expected
In Asia, Japan's Nikkei Stock Average shed 3% amid a strengthening yen and mixed earnings results. The dollar fell below the Y99 level and was on track for the lowest close in a month after data showing Japanese consumer prices rose slightly more than expected in June.
Chinese & European stock markets slightly slipped
In Asia, China's Shanghai Composite slipped 0.5%. European markets hold steady, with the Stoxx Europe 600 down 0.2%.
Commodity markets slightly slipped
Crude-oil futures slipped 0.7% at $104.70. Gold prices dropped 0.5% to $1,321.70.
