U.S. S & P 500 Index rose 0.11%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and Nikkei 225 index dropped 2.43% and 0.8% respectively.
U.S. industrial production Up 0.6%
Industrial production increased a seasonally adjusted 0.6% from August and capacity utilization rose 0.4 percentage points to 78.3%, the Federal Reserve said last Monday.
U.S. industrial output improved in September after a surge in the volatile utility segment helped bolster weaker gains in manufacturing.
India's central bank hikes key interest rate
India's central bank hiked the key interest rate by 25 basis points to 7.75 percent last Tuesday as they remain focused on battling high inflation.
Japan retail sales rose in September
Japanese retail sales grew in September by 3.1% compared by last year according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The agency noted that sales from large retailers added an annual 0.7% rise.
U.S. consumer prices climb 0.2% in September
U.S. consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% in September, the Labor Department said last Wednesday. In September, energy prices jumped 0.8% while food prices were flat. The core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy costs, rose a smaller 0.1%.
U.S. Jobless Claims Fall to 340,000
Initial claims for unemployment benefits declined by 10,000 to a seasonally adjusted 340,000 in the week ended Oct. 26, the Labor Department said last Thursday. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected 335,000 new claims.
