U.S. S & P 500 Index rose 0.51%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index and Nikkei 225 index dropped 2.17% and 0.81% respectively.
CBI raised U.K. outlook
The Confederation of British Industry raised its forecasts for U.K. economic growth and said business investment and trade will aid the recovery starting next year. CBI sees the economy expanding 1.4 percent this year and 2.4 percent in 2014.
Euro zone factory PMI rose in October
Revised data on Monday showed that the euro zone manufacturing purchasing managers' index edged up 51.3 in October from a final reading of 51.1 in September.
U.S. ISM non-manufacturing PMI rises to 55.4 in October
Service sector activity in the U.S. grew at a faster rate than expected in October, easing concerns over the economic outlook, industry data showed last Tuesday. The Institute of Supply Management said its non-manufacturing purchasing manager's index rose to 55.4 in October from a reading of 54.4 in September.
Bank of England keeps rates on hold at 0.5%
The Bank of England left policy unchanged, sticking to its commitment to keep interest rates at 0.5% until the country's recovery is more firmly established.
US jobless claims fall by 9000 to 336000
Initial jobless claims declined by 9,000 to a seasonally adjusted 336,000 in the week ended Nov. 2, the Labor Department said last Thursday.
